On the Northern coast of the Rhuys peninsula is the Gulf of Morbihan. Across this vast stretch of illuiminous and tantalising waters you can enjoy the views of Ile-aux-Moines (Inis Vanac’h) and Ile d’Arz (An Arzh) ; these are the two largest islands in this natural stretch of sailing water, which is unique in Europe.
The town of Sarzeau
Around the church of Saint Saturnin (1626) and the Town Hall (1845), you will find a good selection of shops as well as lovely stone built houses. You can see a splendid ornate gable window near the church and also in Saint Vincent street, the house in which the 18 th century Breton writer Alain-René Le Sage was born.
The stately House of the Trinatarians, which is now home to the Tourist Information Office, remains unchanged since the time of the fathers of Picpus… On the nearby square of the Trinitarians, the biggest open-air market in the peninsula takes place on Thursday mornings.
Brillac and Le Logeo
Brillac and Le Logeo are quiet hamlets on the edge of the Gulf of Morbihan. Brillac and the picturesque harbour of Le Logeo are well worth a visit in all weathers and whatever the state of the tide.
