The Atlantic Ocean

On Sarzeau‘s southern coastline, coves alternate with long sandy beaches. From west to east, you can see the port of Saint Jacques, its fishermen and pleasure boats. Further on, there are the beaches of Le Roaliguen and Kerfontaine. Beyond Beg-Lann point , you can gaze at the strikingly beautiful and seemingly endless beach that spreads from Suscinio to Penvins.

Port of Saint Jacques, Le Roaliguen
The port of Saint Jacques, once a working port and haven for many boats was devoted to inshore fishing. Nowadays, it provides quiet moorings for the locals’ yachts. The hamlet is kept busy with it’s two campsites and various shops. Lifeguards survey this very popular beach during the summer period.

Penvins, Suscinio
From the small granite headland of Beg Lann to that of Penvins, a ten-mile sweep of sandy beach represents a summer dream place for windsurfers and bathers. The hamlet of Suscinio lies at the foot of an impressive castle surrounded by a large stretch of marshland. At the other end of the Peninsula is Penvins, with its little white chapel which stands on the headland of La Pointe de Penvins.

The sailing school at Penvins offers all year round lessons and training courses .. In the low season, you can ride a land yacht on the beach and – ‘go like the wind’!
