Sarzeau lies on the enchanting peninsula of Rhuys in the heart of South ern Brittany. This vast stretch of land is ideally located on the edge of the peaceful Gulf of Morbihan to the North and the invigorating Atlantic Ocean to the South - “Mor Bihan” means “ Little Sea” in Breton. The Little Sea embraces dozens of small islands and is considered as one of the most beautiful bays in the world. To the south, the coast is dotted with sandy beaches and small rocky headlands. On the Peninsula, you are always within a short distance of the sea and nature . Sarzeau relies on the sea and notably on oyster farming. The people of Sarzeau enjoy living close to the sea. The sea has helped to forge their personality as their Breton cultural heritage has done too - visitors can spot the town’s Breton name when entering the commune’s territory: that is Sarhaù! Sarzeau for Nature lovers, there are a vast number of coastal paths where you can cycle or walk along the Gulf on the old Customs path s , and eventually reach the bird sanctuary / nature reserve at Le Duer !
Sarzeau for the curious ones, there is the Breton touch all along the Oyster Route that leads to the romantic crenellations of the moated and turreted castle of Suscinio. An impressive 13 th century castle with a wealth of history and standing just a mere few yards from the sea.
Sarzeau for water sports lovers, offers many different kinds of nautical and seaside activities. There is something for everyone and you can discover the tiny coves and creeks along the Gulf or the coast at the same time .
